CONSTRUCTION
AND
SELECTION
Windows to last a lifetime
Our windows are manufactured
from solid wood using tried and
true techniques. Our
window frames are milled from
solid, 2” thick lumber; not a
“glued-up” or finger-jointed
man-made board. This
allows the finished frame
dimension to be a full 1 3/4”
thick, without the use of
“nailed-on” frame components.
The frame pieces are then
assembled with a “cope and
stick” joint using a waterproof
adhesive and 3” wood screws.
We find that while it may take a
few minutes longer, using screws
is far superior to staples
alone, and results in a more
durable product.

Our standard window sash is
manufactured to the same quality
standards as our frame.
When it comes to the light
divides, you will only
find a true divided light muntin
bar in our window—no popped in,
glued-on, imitation grills.
Our muntin bars are coped and
nailed into the sash, as
tradition and aesthetics dictate.
Our historically accurate
windows and replacement sash are
manufactured in the same
tradition as the originals,
utilizing hand joinery, true
putty glazing, and antique or
restoration glass, as required.
The most beautiful doors
All of our doors are
manufactured to the same
exacting standards as our
windows. We use a variety
of joinery techniques, but never
less than a cope and stick or
mortice and tenon, PLUS dowels
or splines. Again, our
divided lights are always the
genuine article—no grills.
Our base doors are 1 3/4” thick,
even for interior units, at no
extra charge. Many of our
customers demand a 2 1/4” thick
door, and we are happy to
accommodate them. Of
course, 2 1/4” is just getting
started—a fourteen foot high
double entry door demands
nothing less than four inches!

Though we produce more true
divided light french doors than
any other type, we revel in the
challenge of designing and
manufacturing awe-inspiring
entry systems and intricate,
raised panel and glass doors.
We’d love to design and build
your next special project.
